‘Never had much faith in love or miracles.’ Bruno Mars blasted from her earphones as she ran around the outside of the school for the second and last time. Charlie had been trying to avoid everyone lately and has been doing nothing but working out and trying to be invisible to the whole academy. Her ragged breaths came to a stop as she hunched over and tried to regain her breathing. Charlotte bit her lip and took her sweatshirt off a nearby pole and put it on before walking to the entrance of the academy, slowly and kicking her feet with a blank expression on her face, her hands deep into her pockets. Her eyes never leaving the ground. ‘You bring me to my knees. You make me testify.’

The little trooper, a term she liked to go by, followed the blue eyed girl from a few yards behind. She bit her lip, making sure not to make one sound. It was the normal routine she went through everyday. She would sit around in a secluded area until a particularly interesting person would pass by and simply follow them around, waiting silently for something to happen. It was like observing a lab rat or becoming a secret spy. It was a funny thing to do at her age however it was a habit she became accustomed to ever since her and her siblings went on adventures as children. She was the youngest and it was unbearable for her to realize they wouldn’t play games like that anymore. It was easier for her to continue on her own. Charlie slowed down to an average pace, causing the younger girl to have to catch herself before she ran faster and bumped into the subject of her mission. Pausing to allow the girl to put on her sweatshirt, she stepped forward at the next sign of the continuation of the girl’s journey when she stepped on a large leaf. Crrrrunch.

Once the movie finished back at Brent’s room he left to his own. Leaving himself just fall dead-like on bed he fell asleep, forgetting to set his alarm. Half past one in the afternoon, “Not again.” Shadow woke up and felt his stomach complain in hunger. After showering before dressing up he left his place. That was way too much noise for just some hours without eating. His tummy wouldn’t give him the time to cook for himself, instead he went for some food at the dining hall. Once he got his order he searched for a table. In the distance he saw a snake, and, what could have freaked out millions took a wide smile into his face. Almost running towards it he grinned happily as he reached. “Nakida!” Immediately he left his plate on the table and hugged the girl, lifting her off the ground and spinning a bit.

Before she could turn to process who had called out her name, the petite girl felt herself being raised off the floor. Caleb shifted uncomfortably, probably startled from the sudden movement. “Woah! Where have you been?” she managed to say in-between bursts of laughter. She could never get sick of being picked up by her older peers, even if she was fourteen years old. Perhaps it was because of her height, or maybe just because it was fun. It had been so long since she last encountered the boy holding her; she definitely missed him after all that time. Feeling something sleek and glossy rub across her arm, she glanced down at the snake only to find him sneaking off to Shadow’s arm instead. “Hey.” she spoke, glaring at the mischievous creature. He seemed to smirk at her, continuing on his way to the other person.
